DEVOTION
“What becomes clear in these images is not a tension directed against the inevitable flow of the wind, but the flow itself. The surfaces shaped by the wind make time and the absolute power of the wind visible; it is a kind of manifestation of surrender. Everything shifts, dissolves, reforms; it is an acceptance of the inevitability of change. And in the midst of this flow, a single form maintains its permanence. This permanence is not stagnation; it is surrender in its deepest form.”
The tree exists less through its belonging to its location than through the distance between it and its place—through a rooting that penetrates the wind without being lost in it. It neither merges entirely with its surroundings nor separates itself from them. By remaining connected to the river through its roots, it merely testifies to the surrender of the branches above and the barley surrounding it. This position elevates it from its existence as a mere object and transforms it into the purest expression of time, wind, and emptiness—into an absolute acceptance of their presence.
Long exposure makes this process of surrender visible. The difference between the transient and the enduring is revealed not as conflict, but as harmony. This trace is not a sign of resistance, but of absolute trust in the wind, time, and fate. It is continuous and is reaffirmed anew in every moment. Therefore, the word 'resistance' here does not mean bracing oneself against the wind; it is the state of preserving one's own being and roots within it. And this preservation is nothing other than surrender in the deepest sense—the surrender to letting the storm pass instead of trying to stop it, and never forgetting who one is.
This series doesn't examine what is immobile, but rather that most difficult, that most absolute devotion, which is the only way to remain constant. And perhaps above all, it poses the following question: Does the greatest strength lie in resisting the current, or in remaining true to one's roots and allowing everything to pass by?
SHADOWLESS
Trees stand in an eternal moment. They bear neither the burden of the past, nor do they feel the unease of the future. These solitary trees are singular witnesses, suspended in the flow of time. The wind passes, the light changes, the sky alters its shape… Yet they are there. They may cast no shadow, but they leave their mark.
The burden of choice
We often believe that life takes place in the light. But what truly matters is what those who remain in the darkness see. For what is seen sooner or later demands a choice. Both looking and fleeing are actions. These photographs do not capture moments. They bear the burden of choice.
